Finding Church Street Car Park

Church Street Sidford Long Stay
This car park is in the centre of Sidford near the traffic lights.

From the traffic lights head out towards Seaton and Lyme Regis on the A3052.

Almost immediatly after the lights is a traffic light controlled pelican crossing and the car park entrance is just beyond this on the right behind the Post Office / Spar. When entering beware of people stopping on the access way, something that happens a lot!

Overview of Church Street Sidford Car Park
The car park is open 24 hours and there is a height restriction of 2.2 metres over the entrance.

Motorcycle parking is free but there appears to be no designated area to park a bike.

For a small village the car park is surprisingly busy.

There is an exit in the back corner to "The Byes", which is a footpath all the way to Sidmouth. The exit here actually leads in to a housing estate and from this road walk to the far end and turn left to get to the Byes.

Staying overnight in your vehicle or camper is not permitted.

Getting to Sidmouth town centre from This car park

General view of Church Street Sidford Car Park
The walk from here in to Sidmouth is around 1.5 miles along a mainly level and surfaced footpath that also doubles as a cycle path.

On days when Sidmouth is likely to be packed if you do not mind the walk this is an excellent alternative, otherwise you can get a bus.

To get a bus you should exit the car park and turn left. Almost immediatly there is a bus stop with buses to Sidmouth (Hourly the 9A). Unless you know a bus is imminent do not wait here but walk up to the traffic lights and turn left and walk around to the next stop which is served by both the 9 and 9A giving you a half-hourly service. A return ticket will save you money if coming back by bus. When coming back get off just after passing through the traffic lights, where a 9 or 9A can be used on the same ticket.

(There is also the less frequent 899 but tickets bought on an 899 cannot be used on a 9/9A and visa-versa.)
